How bad will 4.10s hurt my top end?

it all depends on the setup. if you have the POWER to pull through third, upgrade the gears/converter. if you dont have the power 3rd will feel look moosh. i always thought 3rd was mooshy on my truck until the 408.

lol, no third wasnt mooshy on nitrous. but the N/A 408 felt like it ran like the LS1 on dope.

I know what you mean. First time i went into 3rd on juice it pulled good instead of falling on its face like it does NA

I like the 3.42s and topend they have because i can pull second till 100.
3RD gear sucks

I ran some 26 inch DRs at the track which should come out to 3.90 gear ratio that killed 2 mph,because it hit 3rd
The 3.42s on my 29.8 tall street tires ran 100mph,,ran 2nd gear to the stripe crossed as it shifted into 3rd

I am considering the 373s i have if i can figure out when i will shift into 3rd

i dont c how people loose top end.. with my set up truck cant hook at anything under 30 and from a 50 pull it pulls hard..pulls good at 60 but i no longer down shift at 70 but let me say one thing when i race my buddies truck at 70 he down shifts and want to start pulling one truck ahead but as soon as im around 90-100 he shifts and hes done!!!.. 410s just pick ur rolling race points.. every gear has a good spot..

I've got a bolt on 4.8 crew cab where I went from 3.23s to 4.10s. It's lowered so I've got pinion angle issues, I blew up a driveshaft at a mere 90mph, not much help.
