Default high-speed driveshaft?

Well, looking for some help here as well. Ive spoken to driveshaft specialist and they recommend the 5x.125 inch aluminum driveshaft, thats the strongest one they make and has the highest critical speed, which I dont know yet since I dont have my driveshaft measurements yet.

I know of a guy that drives at crazy fast speeds the whole time (250+kph i guess) and never had any problem, I also heard that us regular cab guys dont really have that much of a problem with the stock driveshaft, especially 4x4 guys who have a shorter driveshaft (4x4 here).

Whats my best bet at a driveshaft that can take a beating and still have a high critical speed (120+ mph)

thanks

The 5x.125 would certainly do it. I actually have that shaft, but wanted the bigger diameter because the one on my ext cab is about 70".

On my 99 reg cab its about 44" and is 3" steel which should be fine.

I read alot about the whole 2 piece vs one piece driveshafts lets hope this one doesnt give out at 700rwhp and 120+ mph, ill limit myself to this speed, had lots of high speed fun in four different C6's (SC Z06, cam Z06, turbo Z06 and a ZR1) enough with that lol.

Any reports of people breaking their driveshafts on the regular cab models with either lots of power or speed however?

thanks atomic as usual.

Yes the stock one in a regular cab will break. Watch some you tube videos. I've got the driveshaft specialists 5" in my truck at 72" long and had it to 6000 rpm 140 150 mph? I don't know the speedo ends at 120 but had no problems at all. Remember if it lets go you usually end up breaking more then just that. Brent crownover, owner of dss is a really good guy, id def deal with him again.

I have a 3" steel nitrous ready from Denny's that was balanced at 150mph. It shouldn't be hard to get a 150mph shaft at all. Don't use the stock one though.

Mine was 43.5". That's measured center of U-joint to center of U-joint, which is not how they like them measured if they're building you one IIRC.

I didn't blow up my driveshaft, I broke the transfer case slip yolk, launched the driveshaft into the ditch about a quarter mile from my house. Bounced off my muffler and the pavement, luckily didn't tear anything else up.
