Default Help! ASAP

i have a 2005 gmc sierra 1/2 ton 2wd changing rear ends. its not the c clip style like the old chevys. how do you remove the axles. anyone have any info. would be very helpfull. thanks!

I changed out my rear end a few months ago, but i remember seeing C clips, my truck is a 2000 but im sure its the same rear end.

weird.

It is a C-clip but there a bitch

you have to remove part of the carrier i think if i remember right and shove the axle's in by pushing on them from the Drum

Thats how mine was...

You have to remove a 8mm bolt that locks a big rod/pin in, in the middle os the carried between the spider gears. remove the pin and push the axles together and then you can get the c-clips to fall out or grab them with a magnet.

^^is how mine was I don't think they have change, but i dunno.

I changed my girlfriends rear from 3.42 open diff to 3.73 and my old g80, it is a 05 with c clips

not to jack the thread, but did you notice any good power gains with that combo? Ive got a 3.42 peg leg right now.

yes, its a 4.8 in a ecsb if i could do it again i would have done 4.10 but 3.73 were lying around. but still helped out

you have to pull out that center large pin.... you take the small bolt out that retins it... then the large steel pin... then you should be able to push the axles inward, then you drop the c clips then pull them out a lil, and mr carrier will be just about ready to come out as soon as you take the caps off...


and dont forget to check your backlash
