Default Hd2

as the last things that I will put into this 4L-60E I just got a HD2 shift kit and corvette servo's off of OPT from ebay.. I'm gonna install the hd2 with probably one washer on the accum. Maybe none maybe 2.. depending on how hard it shifts.. anyone can comment on how hard it would shift with one washer in there? none? 2?

anyway on to my real question. Someone was telling me that "puts the driver in command allows you to hold any gear to any rpm" he told me that means if I have the pedal to the metal and not let my foot up the RPM's will come up and stay up and not shift. that it will only shift if I let go and come back down on it again almost like I'm driving stick minus the stick/clutch part.. Is that true??

One or no washer, one if you like it real firm. I dont think it will shift if you let up and down on the throttle but it will stay in whatever gear is selected.

i had the tranny shop put in one washer on my HD2 kit. but that is because i have a higher stall which is supposed to soften shifts. it shifts very firm. doesn't chirp the tires, but shifts firm. if you have a stock stall i'd recommend going with zero washers....unless you like to rattle your teeth on each shift.

I have the HD2, with NO washers, and it's firm

If you're going along at 35 and drop it into first, . . . . it will go into 1st reguardless of where your foot is at or how far down it is. Believe me, when you go to down shift, be ready to give it more gas, if you don't you're really hurting your trans.

Zero washers with stock stall - or you'll be breaking hard parts (and perhaps your teeth).

ok zero washers it is.. so two washers its where you end up chirping tires on each shift and spilling your drink on every shift..

ok so now that I actually order the shift kit I find out I can still damage my tranny easily? so its no longer a simple merging onto the highway put the gas pedal down a little bit to downshift I have to manually do that?

and now I HAVE to give it alot of gas in order to do ANY downshift? so this shift kit is gonna kill my gas mileage huh?

I have no washers, and with my 4.8 at WOT, I can chirp the tires.

Now with my cammed 6L, anything over 1/2 I can chirp. My 1-2 shift at WOT will spin the tires.

If you're going to manually down shift, you need to "match" your speed and engine rpm together. You drive your truck/car normal as if you didn't have the kit. Yes simple merging will be more fun, there's no manual shifting about that.

The shift kit will not kill your gas mileage, your foot will

Holy canoly! I can't wait til my HD2 & Sonnax servos hit the front porch. Too bad I may be out of town on business when they arrive. Why do people take the cheap way out of shipping packages? I hate the USPS' tracking system too. ARGH!!!

Anyhoos... Anyone have any vids of vehicle acceleration w/ the HD2 kit installed? Would LOVE to see some of these tire-chirping trucks!

I put in one washer and it shifts very firm. I am a little concerned about how it will affect the long term durability, so I might pull the washer out.
