Default Has anyone tried this???????

I'm speaking of a gear vendor unit on their truck. I have one on my 69 camaro with a th350 trans, and although I'd like to see more od out of it, it does work pretty seamless and has had no issues.

I'm thinking that going from the dmax to a vmax I could use all the help I can get with towing and better mpg.

I like the sound of getting a .55 ratio in what would be 8th gear. If the improvements are there they advertise this truck could get 25 mpg @ 65 on a straight hwy.

some people claim to get 23+ on the highway with pretty much all the bolt onts and a good tune, me personally I have never seen over 17 but I have a heavy foot like most on here

The gear vendor is a nice piece and will take alot of HP! Built very well and I have never heard of one failing.

The gear vendors units do not fail..... A guy i built a TT 460 running 1490 hp at 8600 rpm on avgas runs one in his drag car, and does not have an issue..... i also know a few super comp guys playing with them in the 900+hp range, and even a few nitro coupes running 1900+ hp and i have yet to see a mechanical failure.

not only that but they shift on the fly.... you can shift it into gear while pulling a hill..

they are rated at 1200 hp on their site... a TH400 and a vendor would be a pretty bulletproof wy to go on a truck... strength of a 400 plus overdrive...

What they are rated at and what they can handle are 2 different things.... If you look in their literature, they even advertise their 1200 h.p. rated over/under drive unit, as making many safe passes without problem in the summit/turbonetics 1600+ hp drag car. They probably rate it for lifetime reliability, but you can probably pull off a few seasons at 2000 h.p. before problems

im not trying to prove anyone wrong or right, i am just giving my experience, and telling you what i have seen out of it. It is a great product
