Thanks for taking the measurements and posting the pics. That really helps a lot.
Yeah, after seeing how far over to the left the shift lever needs to be in order to come up through the console, I don't think my shifter is going to work. I was kind of wondering where it would come up through the tunnel but now seeing the pics, it's too far to the right. The height is another concern, right now I think the top shifter base is too tall and would be higher than the plastic part of the console. So with it coming straight up, it would be sitting right where the cup holders sit. It could still work with more engineering but your spacer and extended bottom part of the shifter is sounding like a much easier solution. About how far to the left does your lever end up from a stock straight shift lever? Looks to be about 2-3"?
The swap is still making forward progress.
I'm still modifying the clutch pedal to accept the Tilton master cylinder and adding some more bracing to the firewall etc... Also updated my project thread on TYF. I cut down the brake pedal and installed a smaller brake pad. It's so damn cramped under the dash I ended up tweaking my back so that's been giving me grief this week. It's been mid 50 degree weather up here until Tuesday night, and now the day time highs are in the mid 30's so I haven't done much to it since this last weekend. My Z28 takes up most of the garage so most of this swap will done outside in the driveway. I took some extra time off for Thanksgiving so if the weather cooperates I might be doing the swap around that time.
