I have an ss3600 and I get about 10 in town. I always run my truck in 3rd though, FWIW, my gas mileage in town was the same with my old converter that only stalled to about 2800

Its certainly going to suffer more in the city than highway.

wit mine i got 18 on the hwy but i have a diff motor than my old one and around town i got about 10-12. i had a yank 4000 and it was way to much converter for my truck it burned up the trans sitting in stop and go traffic. but i didnt have a big cooler on it so it would have probably helped out. when i was at the track i was also driving through the converter i just couldnt get any mph out of the truck it just died after i got to the 1/8.

Well before it had never crossed my mind to just up my trans lockup settings and it was set at stock (38 or whatever) so it would lug around town. Now I finally got the genius idea just to raise it so I keep it in 4th.

Oh and I get 19 going about 85 20 about 80 and 22 around 70 mph on the highway. RPM makes a huge difference on the highway but that doesn't have anything to do with the torque converter.

Throttle response at 1050rpm in OD,TCC locked in town kinda sucks.
