Groaning during low speed turns.

I have had a growl up front for a while now. Ever since I hit a pot hole on a dirt road going like 40mph. I replaced EVERYTHING accept pitman-ilder arms. I got a bad feeling its the diff. I checked my diff fluid and it was good, No leaks either. Anyone know of a good audio recording method other than zip tying your phone under your truck.

please tell me you have not done that....
its called a chassis ear... Other option is a mechanics stethoscope and a lift or 4 jack stands just stay out of the way of the moving tires!!! My yukon front diff makes all sorts of noise in 4wd and sometimes in 2wd, im just too lazy and preoccupied with other stuff to pull the diff and change the bearings!!!

Oh I did that
I have tried to reproduce the noise on jacks stand in drive or 4wd or anything and can not make it happen. What it sounds like is the inner plastic fender guard vibrating. Its not that though

If you cant reproduce it in the air, it has to be load causing the noise. Id look at tires and bearings!! My yukon makes as much noise in the air as it does going down the road!! Safly it will only take me about 3 hours to pull the diff change the bearings and get it back together, just trying to wait until i am closer to the engine swap, makes it easier to swap engine with diff out!!

Just bought a used one for 54 bucks. I'll let you know what I find out. If it does end up being my diff (recently re geared to 4.56s) I will just keep driving that **** for a while. I didn't used the special spanner wrench on it and always had a gut feeling my carrier bearing preload might get lose. I had to mess with one of the locking tabs fooooorever.

When i swapped my gears in the front i put everything back to what it was at as far as carrier and pinion preload...i had just replaced carrier bearings a while back and as far as i remember i didnt change them when i swapped ring and pinion.... Sad part is i needed the carrier bearings for my yukon and couldnt find them... Still havent found them... Or my spare shims!!! Grrrr!!!

Finally got mine out on a steep trail with lots of muddy rocks. Was absolutely amazed how far I got in 2wd just creeping along love the BFGKO2S!! Slipped into 4L and creepy crawled for a half mile or so. No popping or any other bad noises and pulled along just fine without slipping. But when I got back on the main road in 2wd it still had the noise!!! Uhggg I like silent!!
