Default Got a clunk. Trying to narrow down part #s

Did some research and talked to a service tech and figured that I need the nickle plated yoke. Called a few parts depts today but didn't get an answer.

Found this online 12477704
Yoke Asm., Prop Shf Slip (with u-joint) , Nickel Plated
4WD/AWD 2500 Series Ext Cab Short Box Pickups (New Style)

I went to gm parts direct and did the top level search. It came up and was about (~$150) No illustrations or other descriptions and wanted to double check if it is the right one for my truck.

Decided to check in the qm alternate catalog and search there and it said it was superseeded by another part # 12472411 which was about ~$80) .

I'm confused. Trying to find the right one. Any advice would be great. Only alternative is call GM part dept on Monday. Thx

You could just lube your slip yoke with grease or transgel and it will quiet it down. Is yours a 3/4 ton?

Does that last? I've heard that is only a temporary fix.

I put grease on the slip yoke about 14months ago. Still working fine.

You need to use some special lubricant (thats what it says on the can). Gm and ford sell it. Its a real thick paste like lubricant with teflon. It was made specifically to lube the splines on slip yokes.

Mine is a 3/4 ton. Never did it before until I raised the rear with 3" blocks and changed my rear shocks. Was doing some research and it said best remedy was to do the nickle yoke. I can try the lub but for around 150 I would rather just upgrade teh yoke and be done with it.

Could be the same issue, but I thought that the 04's already had the nickle yoke, although I could be mistaken...
