well you know who he is. your favorite guy in the world lol. he told me to call him sunday and i could bring it by..............

what would you recomend? a 4l60e with billet parts ie: inputshaft, output shaft. or a 4l80e[/quote]

Well a 4L80E would certainly be a good upgrade. However as you have seen in another thread they can break too.
As for the 60E well really the best way to make a dertermination on it is to see exactly what broke.
Over the years I have of course seen all sorts of failures. But in alotta cases its not nessesarily from power that a failure occurs. For instance if a planet bearing goes bad or a bushing walks. Lack of lube in another type and sometimes you just get a weak part. Though anything can become weak if its beat on long enough lol.

Everyone screams 80E everytime a 60e breaks. But As I have said before I would imagine if there were more 80e s installed than 60e units out there 1000 to 1 I would imagine is a good figure you would likley here about alotta 80e units breaking too.
The 80e is certainley a stronger unit. Truth is though its not always a practical swap for many different reasons. WEIGHT, 4X4, COST are all factors.

To me its funny since I would bet that if the 80E was the larger production unit and the 60e was rare people would see like 10 80e units fail in here a month and only 1 60e because of the way people see forums they would assume the 60e was the way to go.

Each trans does indeed have advantages, There is however no magic bullet a trans is like any other part of a modded vehicle. You use the best parts you can and do the best build you can and hope for the best.

However even then when your talking about high HP abused vehicles sometimes they will fail.
In that case the best you can hope unless you built it yourself is that the company that did will be there when you need them.

On my favorite person all I can say is "Good luck on that" It does not seem to be and easy under taking to get hold of him of late.

i think i may take it apart for kicks and see what broke. it was quiet in park but in reverse or gear it would scream and grind. i lost reverse and first for a few minutes the other day but then it cam back. but every once in awhile you would here a noise that sounded like something fell off. but the last time it did it is when the squeal started. i put it in gear and nothing....then clank clunk it took off......few seconds later SQUEEAALL SCREECH. and i shut it down.

If you take it apart be sure and post up what you find, I am always interested in carnage lol. beleave it or not broken parts in a trans are a transmission builders friend. They are always a source of new knowledge and sometimes better ways to do thing come out of them too.
