I'll probably get one of these. Does it plug up to factory trans lines or require modding?

heat kills transmissions. theres no such thing as too big of a tranny cooler IMO.

i had a stock transmission cooler and swaped them out. my fluid goes through the radiator then the cooler then back to the tranny. i figured that would keep it as cool as it would bypassing the radiator. ither way it dose keep it cool.

i dont have mine going through the radiator, just the cooler. i spoke with several transmission shops, all but one said there is no such thing as a transmission running too cold since heat kills trannys, the other insisted my gauge was reading wrong and there was no way it was running below 140* no matter what

I've been looking into it and it CAN be too cold. But not likely to happen unless you have some rough winters. The guys up north would want to keep the radiator in the loop.

I'm still thinking that Radiator and then Cooler is better than just the cooler. Seems like it would be more efficient that way.
Not only would it get to operating temps faster. But the cooling process would produce lower temps.
If the radiator brings the temps down, before they get to the cooler, then it should produce lower temps than a higher heat going into the cooler alone. Right?
2 coolers seem more efficient than 1.

I live up north, and run my lines through the radiator, then the return goes through the cooler, and back to the trans. One benefit of doing it this way is consistent trans temps, for what that's worth. I think that a trans that runs at more consistent temps will perform more consistently also, this is just my .02 though.

So how cool do these keep the trans? I have about 30k between two coolers on mine and in stop and go traffic or riding back roads I can still manage around 190-200*. Reason I ask is I am either going bigger or getting one with a fan to help keep it cool in those two times.

with my 3000 stall and no cooler mine runs 194-220 depending on how hard I am on it. I think the 40k keeps it down to like 140 max

Sounds like what I need then. My problem is mostly driving to slow for it to command lock up and sitting in traffic.

At the moment I only have a 17k PermaCool cooler, and according to the *factory* gauge (for what that's worth), my trans usually runs around 160* in the summer. It has touched 190ish after long driving and beating on it on hot days. I'm curious how much the temps will increase when I have a verter...I'll probably upgrade to the trucool 40k and get the cold weather bypass eventually.
