Default good drop for z71?

thinkin about dropping my z71 and getting some centerline 17's and building a 6.0 up(building it up wont happen for a year..and would take 2 yrs to complete...cuz money isn't there lol).

would a flipkit and 2" drop shackle in the back be ok? or to low. i plan on ladder bars and panhard bar, swaybar setup. or just take it all out and 4link/coilover

the front...i have no idea. i know loosening the torsion bars can get me low but not much...and it wont handle that great.

wuts out there for us 4wd guys to lower the front for performance. not really for just looks.

The front you can do spindles from McGaugheys and they also make torsion bar keys to dorp the truck. On the back take the lift blocks out and use 2wd u-bolts and then spindles.

spindles...do u mean shackles for the rear?

i was thinking either remove the 2" block and get 2" drop shackles...but im a minitrucker at heart and like it as low as i can. but i cant get my truck notched...so i think the block/shackle will be what i do.

for the front they make lowered spindles for the 1500? link to any of em?

After hunting season I plan to pull th blocks and add some 2" shackles in the rear, and loosening the torsion bars in the front. I saw somewhere the lowering spindles for 4wd's but I dont remember who makes them.

Your options are a bit different starting with the Z71, but have you checked out this guy's truck:

It looks seriously cool, maybe it could give you some ideas.

(I copied and pasted this from another thread, so no, you're not allucinating)

Cool

If you drop the front more than 3" it will kill your CVJs. It is probably not the best for them at 3" either. McGaughys has a 2"/4" drop. You might be able to get 3" up front using spindles and lowering your torsion bars or by putting in lowering keys. Not much else you can do up front. Maybe a good set of shocks and a bigger swaybar will firm it up a little for you. Their hanger/shackle compination is adjustable and you should be able to get 5" with it. At least I got that out of their kit for my 1500HD. Check them out they make good stuff. So you can get 2"/4" and maybe 3"/5" if you are inventive. You will need 17" wheels up front to run their better spindles and 18" would be better because the spindles will still need to be trimmed a little to fit the 17" wheels AFAIK.

Yeah I meant shackles out back and McGaughy's(sp?) makes the spindles that I was talking about.
