You WILL notice. I always drive at 80MPH on the highway and at cruising (15 to 20%TPS) I am at 2800RPM. Believe it or not...(people will argue this of course) there isn't that much of MPG difference. The problem is, you'll fall in love with the "peppiness" of the 4.1 in the low range and you'll never save gas again.

Yeah, there will be a difference in gas mileage but it is negligable. I went from 3.42's to 3.90's and love them.

how big are your tires? i'm assuming you have a 2wd and are using a 30" tire. with that being the case it will be very noticable. my stepfather runs that setup with a 4.8 M5 truck and a 4.10 gear. when i ordered his truck i ordered it with the 4.10 gear. it's a 4x4 with 245's on it. he can still knock off 20mpg unloaded and 18mpg loaded on the highway. it does on the other hand buzz quite well down the highway.

If you can drive it responsibly, you wont see that much of a drop in gas mileage, but you will want to stomp it everytime you take off. I put in 3:90's and it made a huge difference over the 3.42's. Alot of it depends on tire size as well. Almost everyone in here will tell you they are running a different RPM at 80 or so, I turn between 2300 and 2500 on the highway at about 70 to 80MPH. Gears made my truck alot more fun to drive.

I went from 3.42's to 4.10's on my 4A and my gas mileage went UP due to most of my driving being in the city. On the free way I dont know if really even hurt much because my engine is revving higher at a given speed but it is also more in its power band so it is also working more efficiently.
