Isn't the front diff what makes the 4x4 jerky in the turns? I figured with 4x4 with the awd front diff it wouldn't be rough feeling on the corners, or am I thinking wrong.

Actually its the transfer case that cases the jerking on pavement. If you locked in 4hi with a standard transfer case a chain or gears locks the two dive shafts together.
The front wheels, in a turn, move (faster) than the rear and that puts strain in the driveline. Because the two divelines are turning at the same speed while locked in 4hi, but the front wheels want to turn more cause stress on everything!
Basically its the same principle as a rear end in a turn.

The AWD cases have clutches in them that slip a little while the truck turns. The clutches give just like a limited slip in a rear end and reduce the stress in a turn.

Off road when turning and locked in 4x4 the tires give enough to in over stress the driveline.

I wouldn't drive in 4hi without the two speed autotrac transfer case or the AWD transfer case on pavement. Although you can lunch in a straight line in 4hi.
