Default Geared the Denali

Was a bit on the fence about 4.10s or 4.56s so I decided to go a bit high and I'm very pleased with the result. Fresh bearings, seals, 4.56s, trutrac in the rear, and some new 3" mandrel exhaust with a black mbrp 4" tip

Waiting for break-in was painful, especially with all the hondas running around near my work, but I stayed out of the throttle and after a good 600 or so miles of driving like an old lady I finally got on it a bit. With a 31" tall tire and heavy *** 22s I think the 4.56s worked out perfect. Runs around 2300 rpm at 65 on the highway but holy crap did it wake up down low 1-2 shift occurs under 40mph and I'll be damned if 2nd gear isn't actually entertaining now. Really made the truck feel lighter and I barely lost any mileage, maybe 20-30 miles/tank but that may come back after another fluid change with synthetic. I know it sounds like a bit too much gear but with our altitude up here and the wheel/tire combo I'm really happy with the result, now I want a 3000 stall and a cam swap

Just wanted to let you know that the manufacturer of the true trac does NOT recommend putting synthetic fluid in with it

That's the way I would have went if I had a heavy SUV, excellent choice. Lugging them on the highway will burn just as much fuel as revving them a little more.

Actually they recommend using standard oil as synthetic has no benefit to the overall function of the limited slip as it is a helical gear unit, not a clutch type which requires some form of friction modifier. Running synthetic fluid will not in any way, shape, or form adversely effect the function of the unit I just prefer the slight bump in fuel economy by running synthetic. I confirmed this with eaton years ago when I started selling and installing them religiously on certain differentials.

Averaging a bit over 14mpg right now, mostly city and driving like a bit of a jackass. Can't wait to see how she tows with the 4.56s.
