Default Gear me! I need more low-end torque.

Considerations:
  • 295/70/17 (~33") tires will remain
  • 2WD Z71 package, so 4.30 gears could be an option
  • Current gears = 3.23 = FAIL
  • TR220-112 cam
  • 3,000-3,200 stall converter
  • JBA shorties
  • Rarely drive over 80 on the highway; may take it to the track once it's geared correctly
Factory tires were 265/70/17 (~31") available with gear ratios all the way to 4.10. I am planning to replace the stock G80 with a Truetrac.

The 295's are closer to 34" but anywho id go with 4.56 unless you plan on going with a smaller tire don the road..

i say 4.56s.. i run 4.10 on a 31" tire.. im on the highway alot.. still get 18mpg @ 70 2400rpm..
4.10 would b ideal for 33" tires but u want that extra torque u need to go one step higher... u wont regret it.. look at everyone here running 4.10s on 28"s at the track and 30-31s on a regular basis...
4.56s!!!

4.56's. That's what I have in my 4.8 work truck with 30" tires, and it runs great.

4.56's, I dont think the 4.30s would put you at optimum gearing with that large of a tire
