I am looking at getting a 2007 or 2008 extended cab GMS or Chevy truck, the one that comes with the 6.0 gas engine.
Does anyone know what transmission it comes with? I am going to put all the parts that was going to go into my LY6 swap in it since that truck has the same engine.

I have read also that it has a 6l90.....

 

oh wait.. i think the 09s are the only ones to get the 6speed... 08 and older have the 4L80E.

 

I had a nnbs 07 2500 hd reg long bed with the 6.0 and it had the six speed auto in it.
Im not sure if it was the allison or not though.

Nice, cant wait to get it in August. I could get it this weekend but want to give half down and get it on 12 month loan.

 

My NNBS 07 has a 6 speed auto in it and its not an allison. Its RPO code is MYD or MDY. It can take quite a pounding. GM is putting it in the new CTS-V's.

 

All 07 and up nnbs 2500-3500 have the 6L90's. The 1500's still had the 60e up till 09, where its an option.

 

I have to resurrect this thread. A friend of mine called me up asking about gutting the cats on his 2007 2500 HD Silverado... Gas, 6.0L... he tells me it will be cheaper for him to gut the cats since he has an Allison transmission... I thought that was different/unique... an allison behind a gas 6 liter... didnt think much of it (figured the guy knew what he had, since he bought it brand new), I just chalked it up to expensive cats/indiv. Y's due to the unique powertrain/drivetrain combo...
I got online to order him a tune that will shut off the rear O2s so we could go forward on this project... naturally filling out the mail tune form I began to wonder...
He says it has an Allison, he requested an Allison at time of purchase... come to think of it... the 2500 hood side vent badge says "Allison" on it, but somethings weird about this... so I had him send me a picture of his RPO sticker in the glove box... MYD (6L90E)...
At this point i'm completely confused...
Waiting for him to take a picture from under the truck of the trans, to confirm one way or the other... but what the hell? How often are RPO sheets wrong? Would a dealer really have the nuts to sell him an allison upgrade for a fee and simply just swap out the hood badges? Flip side... would a dealer really have the nuts to install all that stuff and modify the truck / take responsibility like that?
Was the truck in an accident before the sale, and whatever body shop did the work, assumed the trans to be an allison since its a 2500? Do horses wear socks?
