LOL, at least you have an excuse, I've used a press a million times, just haven't used one in a long time...I was rushing too though, wanted to try and get home before it got dark and get this thing running. This is what happens when you don't take your time and don't use your head. Oh well, I learned a lesson that I already know...and will probably learn again lol

I was looking into a Denny's driveshaft for my old truck. IIRC, it was going to run about $500 and they are located in central / western NY. Certainly not a worthwhile road trip, not to mention they build them all to suit, so there is a lead time.

Billy, I did do a search on car-part.com and found a few stockers in our area (less than 50 miles away) available. The RCSB 4x4 part makes them semi-rare, if you had an ECSB, they are everywhere. The going rate seems to be between $125 and $150. Just another option if you can't find someone to fix yours.

Hate to admit it, but that pic does make me feel better Thanks for the support buddy

Man isn't that rust disgusting? You should see what you hands look like after you handle it for a few minutes. I've heard that Denny's is the best, but I'll bet that they're out of my price range...didn't know that they were close by, might have to google it and get an address...couldn't hurt to check it out Thanks bud
yes, but it comes with the area you live in. my buddy from indy has a truck that looks like that under.

I want to say they are in NY. And they can build one for around $400.

Dropped the driveshaft off at the "Universal Joint Services" place yesterday, they were talking about $150 to fix it and get it high speed balanced, may be cheaper if they can reuse my u-joint. Said they'll call me when it's done, or if they have to do any cutting and welding, but I was getting the impression from the guy that he could fix it without cutting it...we'll see. If I get it back today I'd like to get to work on it tonight, all depends, I may have to babysit my daughter, which is always fun for me anyway

LOL, that would have been great...actually they painted the ends or something, as they're black now...I'll take some pics before I stab it in

Thans zeake...as it turns out, they only charged me $80.25 to fix the bent ear, install the u-joints, and high speed balance it...sounds fair to me.

Gonna try to get it together tonight, and install my summer tires too...might have to get it running as the Blazer overheated on the way back from picking up the driveshaft, cracked the radiator (I think it was plugged with DexMud anyway). I pulled over at a gas station (with a Dunkin Donuts so I could get an ice coffee ) and let it cool down. Watched about a gallon of my new expensive Dexcool **** out the radiator. Just did the intake gaskets a few weeks ago. When I started it back up it misfired for a little bit, like it used to do when the intake gaskets were bad (coolant would leak down the #1 intake port and foul out the plug). Hope that the overheating didn't blow my intake gaskets out again...I definitely don't want to do that job again, it sucked, especially when it's jut your beater and not your hot rod

I also ordered a new belt tensioner for the Blazer as mine was obviously worn since it would smack against itself with the ac on...might have been why it ran hot with the ac on (thinking the belt may have been slipping). I was running it with the ac to observe how hot it got...I turned off the ac when it hit about 220, but at that point the temp just kept rising, and there was nothing I could do but to pull over and get an ice coffee and smoke a half a pack of butts...

I guess that it's a good thing that it overheated on me today, and not on Friday as I made the 100 mile trip down to see my mom...with my daughter in the Blazer. That would have sucked.

Anyway, I'll post up my results if I get the Reaper together tonight, if I'm not too bushed and I don't fall asleep
