who all has the vacuum mod and are you happy with it. Some tranny builders say its a terrible idea, and others say the tranny will last longer. So who all has it and are you happy with it or have you had any probs with it other than maybe a tranny code being set off? thanks

No problems here. I love it, normal driving = easy shifts... wot = nice firm and fast shift. That's exactly what I wanted and it works fine for me.

Describes mine perfectly also. I would like to add that one of the highlights for me is no more "hunting for gears" the tranny shifts and stays there until it should up or downshift.

The reason for the trans code for the epc solenoid is because the kit comes with a resistor to fool the computer and it does not always work. There are two fixes. One is to delete the test from your computer. The other is to leave the epc solenoid connected inside of the trans. It just needs a couple modifications. If you purchase a trans from us at FLT it is already done for you. I do understand why some builders do not like it. I have done some modifications the transgo vac-mod kit that in my opinion it works awesome. The part that I like about vac-mod units is it takes all electrical components out of the equation for controlling transmission line pressure. If electrically your vehicle is good along with a good tuner the epc units are fine. Imo it's just simpler when it comes to tuning the trans. We do build them both ways and leave that decision up to the customer.

can you tune the tranny's perameters to where it shifts with the same mannerisms as a vacuum modulated tranny. if so then i'll stop worrying about it. i just want to get something that will last a little while behind a bolton 5.3, cam, maybe heads.

Yea you can change all parameters via software, except for line pressure as that is now done by vacuum modulation. You're still leaving the rest of the electronics in place.

I DON'T LIKE THE VAC.MOD. AND I HAVE A FEW REASON BUT I WILL SAY THIS I HAVE NOT SEEN MANY TRANS GO OUT BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE NOID GOING OUT AND THE ONES I DID SEE HAD OVER 125K MILES SO IMO IT WAS TIME EVERYTHING HAS ITS LIMITS

What would be the difference during driving of a trans with the vac-mod and one without? The one thing that really drives me nuts about my trans is the way it hunts for gears and shifts too soon under part throttle.
