I just put in some servos that I got from FLT, I have not ordered the shift kit yet, that will be next time I decide to drop the pan. The servos IMO help the tranny shift better, quicker, etc. I spent about $99 for the corvette servo and billet 4th gear servo... I am very happy and it only took about an hour to do...

Just did the vette servo this past weekend. Took me more like two hours, mainly because the cover snap ring decided it wanted to mess with me.

Shifts are much firmer now - it's definitely a worthwhile mod. Interestingly enough, all of the shifts firmed up - not just 1-2.

You can get the vette servo from our buddies at FLT over there ---> It'll cost you $20 plus whatever other goodies you get talked into.

I installed a Transgo shift kit with no washers in the accumulator and the separator plate holes drilled to the middle size. I also installed a vette servo at the same time I did the shift kit.
The first to second gear shift was so firm it rattled the dash. Since then, I have removed the vette servo and reinstalled my original. The shifts are much better now. I can still spin the tires shifting from first to second, but now it doesn't shake my fillings loose.
I would recommend just going with the shift kit. Why not improve all your shifts as opposed to just 1-2 ?
