GM was having a ton of warranty issues with the rear disc brakes too, the rotors were delaminating. I had a Baer Alumasport kit in my 04 Tahoe and they were awesome but they squeaked alot in the summer. Honestly, I really like the disc/drum set up of the Silverado. Mine don't squeak or shake at all. It'd be hard for me to justify $2000 for another Baer (conversion) kit. I will be doing an upgrade to the pads and adding slotted rotors up front and leaving the rears alone unless they totally crap out.

The rear drums suck. A drum brake should not be placed on a sport truck! IE, SS Silverado. Drum brakes get mushing when heated up. They do not dissipate heat as fast as a disc brake will. All GM had to do was to put larger rear discs on or convert the vacuum booster to hydraboost.
I agree with them being stronger, but the noises and pulsations are not what I want out of brakes to have stronger ones.

I agree...

I have about 5k miles on mine and have minor pulsating when coming to a stop... and it does feel like its coming from the back... no vibrations at all in the steering wheel. Hmm... will have to check into Baer's rear disk conversion... as I was going to check to see if their Extreme-Plus front system will fit my 20's...
