that was my thinking, I really dont want to run slicks in 2wd in fear of breaking the damn thing. I have a set of SS rims with almost bald stock tires I will most likely run to keep from breaking until I can get a better diff.

with slicks my g80 acted wierd. It scared me, and i have 3.23's and bolt ons. It is a good idea to change it out. Igot my eaton posi on ebay for 200 used but in great shape.

The LT1 B-bodies used the 8.5" 10 bolt also. I've seen them run 10s and heard of a few in the 9s using the 8.5" 10 bolt. They weigh right around 2 tons. Naturally they weren't using 100% stock components, but the axle housing and the design is strong eonugh to take plenty of abuse.

I have at keast 100 passes at 500rwhp and 5300 pounds. The rear is starting to make noise. The heavier 2 wheel drive trucks using slicks are going to go through rear ends faster than 4wd's and RC's.
