Default Driveway trutrac installers...

Who didn't change gears...Were most of you able to re-use your factory shims and obtain the correct backlash? Did you have to mess with the pinion depth at all?

I've also heard that getting the correct carrier bearings is tough for the 99's, anybody have any info on that?

x3 on the shims

I didn't change gears when I did the install and just reinstalled the shims the same as they came out and it lined up perfect. Just remember which shims go where and it should be ok.

got me considering doing this now, i'm staying with the factory 3.73s just want to dump the g80 before i regret it... i did a 4.56 / Detroit swap in my old Z71 and vowed to never do it again, what a pita, But if it's as simple as swapping carriers and keeping everything else the same, i just may jump into it.

You'll probably be doing yours before mine...I'm a long way away, just gathering information so I have my ducks in a row when the time comes

I have installed 4 true-tracs and I had to adjust the shims on all of them. But I am a picky SOB. Not saying it won't work, just might be alittle noisy.
