Default Dragging caliper?

wheel for the last couple days i have noticed that my rear passenger wheel and rotor is getting hot as a SOB so im guessing its either the caliper sticking, pins need to be greased, or the rubber brake line. its only happening on that side, and i just turned the rotors, and put new pads about 2,000 miles ago. anyways is there anything else that could be the culprit

normally its a lazy caliper so just change both sides to be on the safe side.

well this morning i took the caliper off, and the rubber around the piston was starting to come off. i cleaned it up real good and put it back on, took it around the block and it wasnt getting hot. but this weekend i probably will just just change it out.

also does the whole system have to be bleed or just that side?

You should still bleed the entire system -Doesnt take long, its a pain to get down and do it but its better to spend and extra 5 minutes doing it and making sure that there is no air in the lines at all and can eliminate that off your list and try to narrow the search for the sticky caliper.

Can I ask if these new pads are ceramic? I remember when I put ceramic on my truck for the 1st time my rears would get hot and smell alot, I did have a bad caliper that was sticking but its since been fixed. I am wondering if maybe you are smelling the ceramic off the pads??

I just put new calipers on the rear of the SS, it had sat for a while and once I finally drove it the rear calipers were hanging. I say 2 new calipers, rear pads, and bleed it out the system and you won't have any further issues. No leaks on your lines right?

sorry to bump an old thread, but i have been having this same problem for some time, and ive been getting new pads like every6 months, this time ive had to replace the rotor... if i am going to replace the caliper and bleed the system i feel like i should be upgrading the caliper, its not like this thing stops on a dime and any extra braking force will help, so what are my options as an upgrade?? i will do a search but if someone could point me in the right direction id be extremely grateful... thanks for any help

Install SUV dual piston calipers, pads, and rotors. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...+brake+upgrade

It's the best thing I've done to my brakes so far. Next is hydroboost.
