I bought (and was informed to buy) BFG DR's for my 69 Mustang. I'm putting them under a 700 horsepower engine and was told they would hook (engine isn't in the car so I don't know yet). I have seen several 10 second cars with them that don't seem to have any spinning problem.

keep in mind that car suspension in most cases are light years ahead of a truck suspension. where a car can rely in most cases on a better rear suspension setup, the trucks have to rely more on the tire. we have longer frames and more weight in the front than we do the rear. which makes it hard to hook. i don't know who makes the better tire for us just yet. i have tried the bfg and they did great till i started making more power then they would spin a lot. since then i have had two sets of mt et streets and they 26" worked good till i got to another level and then i moved up to the 28" et streets. so far they hold me on motor.

I do agree with you, however, many of these cars (including mine) are putting much larger motors in which make the front end much heavier and change the weight distribution by a nice amount. Personally, I am going to stick with the tried and true stock leaf spring set-up with some homemade cal-tracs. I have seen many other cars that have similar setups still be able to hook but I guess every vehicle will be different (regardless if it is a car or truck).

but to me it would depend on the deal you are getting for them. if your talking a 100 bucks savings then jump on that set and use'em.

brand new set DR for $200.... i think I am going to get them and use them for a few runs, if I dont like them I think I can get my money back...

I'm running 28" M&H DR's, not the MT ET Street Drag Radial, but I cut 1.7x short times all day w/ a 4/6 drop and Cal Tracs. My personal opinion is the 28's will look better, and maybe even hook better since they have more sidewall.

I'd say go w/ the DR's.

I like the M/T dr's because you don't get the walk at the end of the track. I use 255/50r16 and pull consistent 1.8 60' at BMP.. There's a orange LS1 T/A that runs a lakeland drag strip 1/8 mile and pulls 1.3 60' on the M/T dr's.. A woman drives that car..
