Does an aftermarket TC put more stress than a stock TC on the tranny?

Well....just like the title says....I have research but really couldn't get a true answer. I have a stock 700R4 with corvette servo, B&M shift kit, and .500 boost valves. Just wondering if this will hurt the durability of the tranny, help, or stay the same? Thanks!

The stuff you have done to tre tranny will help your life. Adding a aftermarket TC will cause your temps to rise which willl cause wear faster.
This is where a aftermarket cooler comes into play to even that out.Cheap insurance usually around 60ish bucks.
The TC will cause a little more wear on launches as you will be leaving the line with more hp goin through the tranny and rest of drivetrain instantly.
Unless your making alot of power though it's not a problem.
More of a problem on the rearend than the tranny really.

I thought i had heard of guys breaking input or output (can't remember which) shafts with just a stall and little else. It will put more stress on the parts. Think about 250 horses hitting suddenly vs building up to it.

Yes indeed there is more stress put on the trans when you run a bigger stall. It is letting the motor get into it's powerband more before it locks up, inturn puts more strain on everything. Like said above all the goodies you add to the trans will help.

If the STR (Stall Torque Ratio) of the converter is higher than the stock converter and good aftermarket converters usually are. You will put more torque into the tranny than with the stock converter.

To clarify...I do have a aftermarket aux cooler.
I have talked to several companys...they all agree that the stock STR from GM is about 1.4-1.5 and 1200 rpms stall for my body style. I'll be stepping up to roughly 2.3 and 3k.
