Default Do i really need to get an 80e?

Well I blew my flt lvl 4 60e, so its time to upgrade. I really do not want to convert to an 80e if i do not need to. Would I be dumb to get the lv7 flt 60e. What about the PerformaBuilt lv3?

It would be a 2wd transmission, and i would like it to be able to hold up to around 650 RWHP in a 5500 lb vehicle so I have a little room to play.

Any opinions are welcomed.

What did you break? Performabuilt lvl 3 would hold up, I would imagine. Wheatley runs 11's in his heavy crew cab on nitrous on a PB lvl 2 with a converter.

No clue yet i am going to give FLT a call later and see what they think it would be. I lost all forward gears, there was no loud bang or clunk just rolled into the throttle in second gear and it went up and hit rev limiter, so i came to a stop and there is now no forward gears. Reverse works fine. Its acting like the fluid is just really low, but it is not.

It's like this...No, you do not need to but you would be awfully foolish not to. I run a FLT Lv7 very successfully but I know I'm pushing it.

Given a choice I would go 80e without thought. 650rwhp....don't go 60e.

Yes the one in my sig, It is a 4wd but the 4wd has not worked in years, and I will be putting a 2wd one in it. And yes its a cam only lq9 with a turbo, but i will be going with a set of ery good flowing heads and upping the boost to around 12lb in the future.

Thanks for the advise, as for going with an 80e from lets say FLT would i be fine getting away with an lvl 4 or just go with the 5 be be safe? I would rather spend less money, but I dont want to loose a tranny again for a long time.

I think you might have lost an output shaft by what you are telling us. The good thing is if you upgrade to the L7 most of the parts that have broke will be replaced with upgraded parts. Keep in mind we do have a freshen up/upgrade policy! Give Andy a call to go over the details. Vince

I feel if you were to go with the L4 you should me more than fine for what you have listed. The L5 would be a stronger trans but at this point do you really need it? I would say no. I hope this helps you with your decision with either way you decide to go. Vince
