Question Differential Fluid Question?

I just had an eaton installed and asked what type of fluid he used and he replied some chinese stuff and the same with the friction modifier. Should i trust his judgement or just wait 500 miles and change it with the gm fluid and modifier, or should i do it now?

Can i buy the fluid at any local dealership or can i get it at O'Reiley?

I personally would run Mobil 1 with friction modifier. I just can't see paying $$$$$for the grape GM stuff. I tow and have 148K and still on my original so I don't think it hurts anything.

No Mobil 1. Use just a regular conventional fluid of your choice plus either the ford or gm modifier. I prefer the ford modifier for use with Eaton's. M19546A I think.

Depends. Sometimes I use the Motorcraft stuf because ford includes it with their gears. I will usually just grab either Pennzoil or Valvoline. The mostly all meet the same specs, but I usually stay away from the generics. You should be able to get a modifier at an O'reilly's. You have to use it though, some bottles of fluid will say it is in there or that htey are limited slip approved, but add it anyway.

I used castrol Hypoy or something like that..
the oil bottles come with a spout to get it in there..
the fill hole is on the passenger side of the pumpkin..near the drive shaft U-joints.

You should have drain and fill lines to swap out the fluid. unless he swapped gears too you shouldn't need to open the cover again.
