Default difference between shift kit and chip?

my silverado has a shift kit and it shift very hard into second gear, my friend has a lightning and after he installed a diablo sport chip it shifts very hard too, so my question is what the difference, is it the same or what better?

he installed a Diablo Programmer... not a "chip"

Basically his increased line pressure with the PCM..

Yours has a shift kit with im sure a boost valve in the pump, larger holes in the valve body for flow and different accumulators and springs..

one is mechanical and the other is electrical.

what he said ^^
Increasing line pressure can be done mechanically (not sure why but I like it better) or electronicallly. Do you have a custom tune? if so the line pressures should be near stock.
