Default Difference between Eaton LSD and Detriot Tru-trac

What are the functional differences between the Eaton LSD and the Detriot Tru-trac? How would it affect daily driving?

The TruTrac is mechanical, no clutches to wear. Both great products.

http://www.detroitlocker.com/DT.htm

on the picture of the Detroit TT you can see the set of gears inside the differential.

http://www.traction.eaton.com/prod3.htm

kindof hard to see but the Eaton LSD has a set of clutch packs on each side with springs press against them from the center.

Im sure for DD you will not know that there is anything in the rear. They both behave pretty much like a Open diff until you call on them.

hope that answers your question?

There would be no "clunking" around turns from the Tru-trac?

I disagree a little, my eaton is tight. With the windows down cruising through my neighborhood, I can hear my inside tire trying to grab going through a turn. I'm happy with my Eaton

The Eaton will not "clunk"...the tru-track, I believe, will ratchet around turns....not exactly a "clunk", but more of a clicking noise.

I should have bought the trutrac, I kick myself daily I called eaton(who now owns detroit) about the trutrac and they have several in 1000+hp drag cars and they hold up great. I came across a great deal on an Auburn brand new and have regreted it ever since I put the bitch in.
