That pan does not support the filter very good.

that's why they make filters for deep pans or extension adaptors for the neck.

Does yours use an extension or a deep filter? IIRC The one I had here did not have an extension nor would a deep filter work. I even made some precision measurements and it seemed that with the deep filter the pan would not fully seat. With the shallow filter it seemed as it might fall out. I sent the unit to the customer with a factory deep pan and told him what I saw. Ever since then I get scared every time I see one of those pans!

How much gap are ya talking about? Curious to know. Never had seating issues with my deep pan filter. As a matter of fact, I've always had to wiggle the heck out the filter to get it off. No extension necessary.

BTW... I gots one of dem pans. Hadn't had any overheating issues either. Line pressure? That's a different story. Did you have a look in that package I sent ya? Saw that you signed for it right before lunch.

What package????????? As for the pan there was something I did not like when I had one here. Hell maybe it was a different brand but it looked familiar to the one you guy's keep talking about. Next time you have the pan off your trans cough, take a measurement with the filter installed from the pan rail to the highest part of the filter. Then make a measurement on the pan from the rail to the cooler tubes. Let me know what you see as far as a gap. Maybe I felt it could possibly fall out. Or have the trans on your work bench on its back. Set the filter onto the seal but not installed. Then place the pan on the trans. What do you see? I personally do not think the seal in the pump should be the only part supporting the filter. I have seen pans installed on transmissions that the filter is not proper as far as I'm concerned. With some miles on the trans the filter seal start to compress. When you remove the pan the filter falls out. That tells me you could be getting air into the system. I guess I'm insane and should be committed! Vince
