Great info. Thanks for the informative responses. So the only time the gas mileage will really suffer (besides the obvious wot runs) will be driving around town, below the locked point. But once I'm on the highway the converter will have no effect on fuel consumption. This was a big concern, thanks.

About the cooler. I just did a couple quick searches, but I didnt see a kit. It looks like theres a bunch of additional fitting and hoses needed to get that cooler onto my truck.

Anyone sell a kit?

There is not a kit that I know of but there is a very informative sticky in this section that lays out a list of all the things you need if you want to do AN fittings and stainless braided lines. Or you can just use rubber hose and hose clamps which is much cheaper. I went the AN/stainless braided route and I think I had nearly $400 into it including the cooler once it was all said and done.....

Put a 4L80 in with Circle D 3000-3200 and 40,000k tru cool in and got it running last night... It pulls great! Still working on the tuneing part with firmness and the lock up but im learning! I used -6 an fittings and the cheap blue areoquip hose from summit on a RCSB and 20ft of hose is plenty, just dont forget the adapters from -6 fitting to the cooler ( you will need 2) ... I put some heat wrap on my hoses by the y pipe area just to be safe ... I dont use my old radiator cooler, worried about crap in it from old tranny, we will see how it turns out ... Goodluck!

I've pulled 6000lb loads on this converter. The temperature will spike upwards when unlocked (lots of spinning to get to speed) but once the converter locks in I can tow up grades and flat roads just fine. If anything it tows better with the huge stall, as I'm able to start loads I normally couldn't convince (like a trailer sunk in mud-cups with a tractor on top) to get rolling.

If you plan on doing ANY towing, have your tuner make the Tow-Haul feature enable lockup at as low a speed as possible. Even getting lockup in 2nd gear at 15MPH will save you a lot of heat surge.

I DD my truck and my converter acts like a 4000. it doesn't bother me at all but I am sure a lot of people wouldn't like it.
I had a 3200 before and it drives almost like stock until you put the peddle down. I towed with it all the time, get a good cooler and have fun

in order.

performabuilt 3600-3800 9.5in with the 60e in a HCI 4.8
CircleD 3200 278mm with a 60e in a HCI LQ9
CircleD 3800 9.5in with a 80e in a HCI LQ9
ProYank multi-disk 3200 with a 80e in LQ9 with boost.

The CircleD 3200 and the ProYank 3200 are my favorites to daily in comfort. The CircleD 3800 9.5in was really fun to drive!

Wow the looser converters got the same mpg as the tighter ones? What about in town?
