Is it possible everyone is innocent and the tranny guy mistakenly opened and showed him another 4L60e? Maybe he has trannys up the wazoo and cant keep his **** straight. Not likely but I guess possible.

I've had great luck with my FLT trans and the crew there has been some of the best people i've dealt with. How did the trans get shipped to you? The odds are slim but what if somebody from the shipping company happened to be a gearhead and needed a built trans.

I thought maybe this was mentioned, but maybe not.

I never thought of this. A definite possiblity if all others are innocent. Would stink tho, cause if anyone shipped somethin, they'd have to worry bout an inside job.

Both of these of good ideas.

Nate sent me a junk trans plain and simple. Vince if your still keeping up w/ this thread id like you to take a look at the pics when i post them this weekend and tell me it the marking on the trans are in fact yours or if theyve been faked. if i remember correctly the markings read "FLTLV4" stamped into the top of the case.
The best and most advised thing here is to show these photos to Vince so he can see 1. The case markings 2. the internals. He should be able to recognize his companies work.

Actually, I think this is a very viable possibility and one that is not that slim at all. Why? When Chuck and Vince built my 80e and shipped it to me someone in the local UPS hub tried to steal it. No lie. They marked it picked up and claimed I picked it up despite not having any id information for me that was in anyway valid (a fake DL number).

When I called them on them breaking their own rules, then suddenly they remembered it and said it was possibly delivered by mistake to their shop... Turns out it wasn't over at their shop. They said they'd have to look into it... I called a few friends and then called back the hub supervisor and explained that I'd be down in a hour with two detective friends of mine and would be walking through the hub to do a physical inspection. Of course, bringing the detectives wasn't necessary according to the hub super. When I got there, the hub supervisor was mysteriously gone for the rest of the afternoon... as was 2-3 members of the warehouse crew according to the pregnant lady who had to walk around the warehouse with me.

Turns out they had misplaced (hidden) the shipping container in a rectangular area that was blocked off with big crates (refrig size stuff) and I would have missed it if I didn't know exactly what the container looked like and caught the corner of it between a 2 inch gap between two big crates...

Of course it was all a big mistake and gee now they could clear it for me. No mention was ever made again about all the phoney baloney in the computer...

What would have happened had I let it go over the weekend while they investigated? I'm SURE I would have had to prove I didn't receive it and they Chuck would've had to fight for the insurance money and some ******* would have been sporting my 80e. I have no question in my mind.

What happened in this case, I don't know obviously. However, there's no way I believe Chuck or Vince had any hand in something nefarious. They've done way too much for this community and have rebuilt way too many trannies on their own dime for me to buy anything close to what the OPs tranny guy alleges. No way, no how.

Speaking of shipping companies.. There are a lot of shady people that work at them. A neighbor of mine works for Fedex and rips off ipods, tvs, computers, etc all day long.

Could be shipping..

Could be builder.. I once had a well known respected local engine builder try and walk off with a standard bore 302 block of mine and try and tell me my block was .060 over already. Little did he know I stamped my initials in the block prior to bringing it in.

Me personally, Blame your current builder. He may not have wanted to run your build cost up, but he may have wanted to discredit them to earn your trust and your business.

No one will really ever know. I have a used stock transmission in my truck, I had no history on it, it's taken as much of a beating as my stockers have so far. Nothing wrong with used transmissions.

Note to OP:

Did you pull the pan? Change the filter?

Lol...this reminds me of a story. I build rotary engines and I hava a good reputation that I want to keep as it is my only source of income. Having been in the community for about 10 years now I know a lot of people who know people. Long story short, this guy came to me wanting me to build him an engine he dropped off, he seemed a bit off and I was nervous about the deal so I did some research and found out that this guy was actually a well known scammer who a lot of people were looking for, and he's had some judgements against him etc.

So I built his engine using the core he supplied, by that time I knew who he was and knew to watch my back. So the guy shows up and I see him and his friends huddled around the engine pointing and laughing. I walk over to see what is up and ask him about it. Turns out he made some very minor punch marks in a pattern on some of the parts of the block, so they could tell if I had screwed HIM. I was like, you've gotta be shitting me.

Guess the guy screwed so many people he was paranoid of being screwed himself...
