FWIW not having the trans TOTALLY filled will fry the 3-4 clutch pack first. My built 60e was working perfect behind a full bolt on cammed 5.3 with a 150 shot, when I installed my 418 on the test drive I toasted it on the 2-3 shift because I was excited and didnt take the time to make sure the trans was filled all the way.

Nlawson6.0- thank you for responding, I honestly dont see how you didnt see this thread its been going on for a couple of days and been at the top of the list pretty much the whole time. Regardless, Im glad you responded.

No one will ever know what really happened, there are too many proverbial hands in teh cookie jar to know who actually stole it. Maybe some people will read this and learn a valuable lesson.

no problem responding guys, but really only get on here to answer the pm's that i have received due to the others items i've sold in the last week. i just dont search/read around any more due to parting the truck out, and no time.
hell i only seen the thread do to my phone letting me know that i had a private message about this thread.

if some one has a problem with something iv sold im more than willing to make things right.

Mark

Im telling u that the tranny i sent u was shifting the same as when i bought it, nothing wrong with it.. i had to drain it before shipping and everything was okay.. really if i had any doubt that something was wrong i would of had it sent back to Vince because i am parting out my truck and sell most everything to other fellow members on this site and strive for positive feedback.

but i really find it hard to believe that FLT sent me a 1800 dollar tranny that was rebuilt with stock parts. i just dont see it...

first off, i dont think FLT sent a stock trans with a shift kit, and vette servo only.... secondly, like everyone said, you could have been low on fluid and burned up your clutch packs. third... how can you tell the difference between stock and built tranny parts ??? i cant, im not a tranny builder or ever had a trans built before my eyes to compare parts side to side... and last but not least.... you took too long to deal with the problem so no one can really be blamed but yourself.

I had a friend that happens to be a member on here tear down my FLT level 5 to replace the 3-4 clutches after I developed a leak, and ran the trans dry. it was obvious even to me that the parts and trans I paid for was in fact what I had. When I was preparing to buy another trans for my 08, FLT was the first place I called. Vince and Chuck have been nothing but stand up guys in my experience. And they will be building my next "built" transmission!

I was in similar situation as the op with my flt, I bought mine used from another forum. When I put my trans in it worked for a couple of months, and didnt think anything of the pan being dirty. Since Ive gotten it back its worked great, just wont buy another used trans again. I dont think Vince would put stock parts in a trans with his name on it.

FLT has one of the best Reps out there. Seems nlawson6.0 is a stand up guy. That only leaves 2 more things.. Low fluid on initial startup/drive or local Trans builder..

now is everyone seeing my problem. FLT has a great rep., Nate seems to be an honest person. i work on cars for a living so low fluid is out, and its the first thing i checked after the first test drive when i found the prob. everyone seems to want to point the finger at my trans builder which i can promise you is out of the question. but the fact remains the trans i received was JUNK. ill get some pics up this weekend of the parts pulled from the trans and the trans case w/ the FLT markings.

Earlier, I wondered if ya checked fluid, but see u just covered that. Somewhere. somethin doesn't add up. I'm not pointing fingers, but I've only met 1 party out of everyone involved.
While we may never know, if I may ask. Not tryin to be a jerk, but like Cody said,
did we all learn a valuable lesson? Or you? Don't be offended, cause I know u lose in the end, but others may too.
That said, what would u do different?

what would i do different?? saved my pennies and bought a brand new trans. it basically boils down to the fact that i bought a busted STOCK trans and had to spend the money to have it rebuilt. learn from my mistake and NEVER NEVER buy a used tranny if you dont plan to have it rebuilt. Nate sent me a junk trans plain and simple. Vince if your still keeping up w/ this thread id like you to take a look at the pics when i post them this weekend and tell me it the marking on the trans are in fact yours or if theyve been faked. if i remember correctly the markings read "FLTLV4" stamped into the top of the case.
