my belltech hangars only had 4 bolt holes as well. There is a secondary piece that is riveted to the bottom of the frame. It is unused with the new hangars due to the higher mounting location

Correct, the factory one has 6 rivets. The drop hangars have 4. The drop hanger mounts in the top 4 holes. The factory hangar is longer. Dont worry about the 2 extra holes at the bottom, those are a separate piece bolted to the frame.

So to connect 4 holes on top not bottom right?

+1 to 00Silv4.8's post
The factory hangers use 6 rivets, only the top 4 are to the actual frame, the bottom 2 are riveted to a lower L shaped bracket that has 2 more rivets underneath it that attach it to the bottom of the frame. The Mcgaughy's hanger will use only the top 4 holes in the frame. When I did my install I left the bottom 2 rivets that hold the factory hanger on to the bottom bracket in tact and ground off the rivets that hold the lower bracket to the bottom of the frame off to completely remove all of the stock parts. You can do either way, but either way its 6 rivets to remove.

+1 on pulling the bed off. Your gas tank fill neck has like 2 screws and a grounding strap then unplug your taillights get a couple friends to pick it up and set it on some cinder blocks. you will have all the room you need

Wouldn't hurt to loc-tite those nuts/bolts when you put the new stuff on too... I've found mine loose in the past. I also got some grade 8 bolts/lock nuts instead of the ones that came with my belltech hangers. Been on since '04 with zero issue...

We used a wrench and taped it to peice of pipe and then taped the back side of the bolt hit it with an air gun.... Pretty easy and I had a full tank so droping it was too much.
