Any one know what the stall speed is on a GM81 torque converter and a GM82 torque converter for a 4L80E? All I've found out so far is 81 is low stall and 82 is high stall haven't found out the speed yet, wonderin if you guys knew...

Thats kinda what I've figured out was somethin in that range for them. I know they use the 80E in diesel Chevs also to match the torque curve. So from what I figure the 81 was for the diesels and the 82 was for the gas. I'm figuring an 82 for my swap, 96 Tahoe 4dr with an LQ4. From what I've researched for with the torque curve of my basically stock engine the 82 would be the best bet. Do you agree? Do you think a set of 806's and a .030 overbore would change that curve much?

im running the 82 style in mine and towing a trailer its nothing to get the rpms to sit at 3000 while accelerating pulling a trailer. its pretty dang loose for a stock converter.
