Default Converter question

the tranny shop that is putting a new band in my transmission is gonna put a torque converter in also.

He got me a Corvette Torque converter from target, local company, that is restalled to 2800 behind an ls1.

He said this will work fine in my truck and I will not need any tuning.

Can I still haul my four wheeler with this TCC, I will have a cooler probably two.

Is it a 9.5,10, or 10.5" converter?

BTW im only being charged 250 for the converter.

I answered in the other thread, but I think you will be fine, if it sets a trans slip code, you will know the tcc needs more oil to hold while hauling the quad.

ahhh yes I read it after posting.....THanks.

I was more just checking, double checking, that the corvette converter restalled to about 2800 behind an ls1 would be alright.

So wilde one more brain twister. Say I get my truck back. drive it around take it to the track and in 2 weeks I pu tthe four wheer on the trailer and go down the road and throw this misfire. I need to get the verter BACK out and add fluid? Or just add a little more fluid in the dipstick.

Sorry for all the questions.

NO No, the comment about needing more oil is ment for tuning, (you can set min TCC duty cylces higher and up line pressures in the tune) not the whole tranny needing more oil. And if the converter is smaller in diamiter it MAY missfire all the time not just when towing. I've done a bit of research on the missfire problem, and very few people seam to run into it so don't worry to much about that.

How Much Fluid Would You Need To Add/reduce From Going To A Stock 5.3ltr Converter To A Tb Stall?

Isn't the TB stall diameter the same as stock?
I don't think a TB stall would need very much if any more. Hopfully someone will post up who has tuned with a tb torque converter.

You will enjoy that 2800 stall. Just make sure you have a big tranny cooler to keep temps down, while your towing your 4-wheeler.
