On an off-topic note, your garage floor is sweet! Good luck with the rest of the install

ONE04FX4- probably should replace the seals but low miles truck 35K now. gonna risk it. Figure trannies won't be long enough for seals to fail.

BudHayes3- Thanks, floor was last weekends project. I've been in our new home for over a year. Planned on doing the floor even before we moved in. Just getting around to it.

Its in guys. Aside from the torque converter not fitting my flex plate. (Another thread) and a gasket boo boo. Install was straight forward. Leaking a bit of fluid at the transfer case transmission joint. Will have to tear back into that.

I've put about 20 miles on it, did a couple launches. One I brake stalled up to about 2400 rpm. SOTP definately liked it. Tight, streetable, very firm lockup. (didn't remove check ball). Would be hard pressed knowing it even has a stall if you hadn't driven it before.

More to come once I've spent more time with it. Afraid to drive to much with the leak and missing Auto Track fluid.

What is the check ball for? I've seen somewhere that you could remove it. Why would you? BTY congradulations. I'll be doing this later this month, or early next.

The check ball is in the end of the input shaft. Held in place by a star looking stamping. I understand it regulates the amount of fluid flow to the torque converter clutch during lockup. Removing it quickens/firms the lockup event. Mine is great with it in.

I have forgotten all about the PITA install. This heavy son of a buck launches like a rocket I am confident I cut a tenth off the 60 ft times wouldn't be surprised if 2 tenths. That would put me at 1.9 or 1.8 60 fts. What a rush.

Press the little 4WD button while rolling to a stop. Drop it to neutral and hold the brake while revving it a bit. Let the idle drop back down to normal. Drop it into drive. Stall it up to about 2400-2500 rpm. Builds about 3psi boost. Mash gas while letting off the brake and hang the hell on.. Its insane. I love it.

It also softened up the very harsh part throttle shifting I have been having since the Transgo install. Shifts are now just quick and firm. Actually gonna go in to the tune and take out some of the softening I had been doing.

Gotta tune the clutch lockup. Think I'll have enough power, and tc clutch, to lockup at top of second gear before the shift and ride 3rd gear full lock. I've read this will reduce et's by a tenth or two. I have noticed that my tune says to lockup at cruise at 58 mph. Its not until about 63mph. Wonder what that is about?

Probably going to install another trans cooler or replace the stocker with a more efficient one. The temps will creep up to around 200 when playing hard. About 20 to 25 higher than I would see with stock.

GM Part # 12378508. True blue out of the bottle. Greenish when you drain it out. I know the transfer case leaked out a pint of this stuff when I was wrestling it around. Went to replace it and it was full? Gonna drain completley and refill incase trans fluid somehow makes its way back there and dilutes it?
