Default clutch problems on my Daily Driver

So for wile now the clutch has been getting less and less responsive in my 97 S10 pickup. A few months ago i went ahead and purchased a Ram clutch kit for it. Well this morning it felt like it was on it last lim and when i went to leave work she wouldnt go into gear at all, i ended uo forcing it in 3rd and limping out of the parking lot and making the 15 mile trip home with 3rd and 4rth gear. At the stop lights it would disengauge just enough to not die out, but i have to force it into gear and to back up i have to put it in reverse before i start it. Ive driven autos forever with the exception of 1 05 sierra i had for about months but never had to do work on the clutch. it should be a cable driven clutch and not a hydrolic style right. An that being said a clutch kit that i purchased should solve my problems?

Should be a hydraulic clutch setup I think. Sounds like it needs new slave cylinder. Because the pressure plate isnt traveling far enough.

Definitely sounds like hydraulic issue with either the master or the slave. Like mentioned above have you opened the hood and checked the reservoir?

ended up bleeding the slaved a few times and getting some peddle back. The fluid in the was pretty bad. Grey and gunky so least I have a Slave and clutch for when one or the other goes out

Definitely sounds like a Slave issue. Do yourself a favor and get a good slave. Don't go cheap aftermarket as you will likely be doing the job again within a year. The pressure plate and disc aren't as critical but you want a good quality slave going in there since it is hydraulic.

Rockauto has an AC Delco slave for $83. Then I would buy the disc and pressure plate separately but that is me.

Next time you have the problem try pumping the pedal a few times to build pressure. But it is definitely hydraulic.
