Default Can you have TOO much fluid?

I really really really hate my luck.
Early this morning on my way home from work I did a couple WOT runs. On the last 2 runs it shifted softly into 3rd. I figured I might be a little low on fluid because it keeps blowing out of the overflow tube under the truck for some reason.
So earlier I was gonna get ready to head out and stopped up at the bank for some cash and to check the fluid level after it warmed up. It was just below the cold mark so I put in 1 qt. This put it way over.

It still shifts soft into 3rd and won't hold 3rd or 4th hardly any. The fluid doesn't smell very burnt but isn't quite red either. TFT got up to about 141 last night during the runs.

I likely need new clutches but can too much fluid cause such problems?

I hate having to do a trans swap... I hate it even more in the winter in cold sand with no shop.
I'd do 4l80 but i can't afford the trans AND another converter.

I don't know for sure but PerfomaBuilt (FAQ) says "1/2 inch or so over is fine; but 1/2 inch below full can hurt your transmission."

Sorry, sorta sounds like the end.

Is the FLT not under warranty or did you buy it from another member?

No, pressure is still set by PCM.

Any chance there is a leak between the rad and the end tank? Do you still run the trans fluid through the rad?

Sounds to me like you either have too much fluid in the trans or pressure is building up in the trans and pushing fluid out. I don't really know enough about the trans to know what might cause it to push fluid out the vent.

Are you on a stock tranns segment? Or one thats not extensively modified, I dont see why your having so much trouble with all this. You trying to approach my luck in transmissions.
