RPMs should drop about 500 or so, and if you give it a little gas it will kinda slip

im on number 6 im catchin up,but thats not a good thing, ill prolly tear mine up again before you even finish putting the flt65e in ,lol. in the past year ive changed more trannys out than i have changed my oil,now that is an accomplishment... on another note, im lookin at the yank 2600, at what speed/gear does this converter lock up? and will i destroy another tranny yet again, even with just a lil playin around? or should i go with the tb stall to be a lil safer?

The f body and turbo Buick guys have been having good luck with locking the TCC in 2nd gear. This make the trans transmit more power to the rear without being wasted as heat when it is unlocked.

I am pretty sure out trucks are tuned to lock above 85mph? at WOT.

My truck was tuned by GM to lock at 85 mph at WOT. When it locked, it did so just after the 2-3 shift, the engine is still recovering from teh 2-3 shift and then the added strqin of a TCC lock was enough to hamper acce;leration quite noticably. Tuning the PCM to not allow a WOT TCC apply allowed my et to drop about 1-2 tenths in the 1/4 mile.

I am thinking about doing some WOT TCC 2nd gearapply testing this Summer. Locking teh TCC in 2nd shouldnt bog acceleration as much becaiuse the engine isnt loaded as hard in 2nd with the 1.6L1 gearing as it is in 3rd gear(1:1). I am hoping the added effeciency the locked TCC will provide will shave some time. I should gain back some of the mph I lost when I installed my S-10 L35 V6 torque converter which gives me a nice 2500 rpm stall speed, and about 400 rpm less rpm drop at the shifts.
I dont know if this will work, but I do know that my truck seems to pull better with a locked TCC than an unlocked TCC. Rolling on in 3rd gear wit teh TCC locked "feels" faster than doing the same with the brake pedal slightly depressed just enough to light the tailights but not actually slow the truck. With my stock tuning this was the only way I could prevent a WOT TCC apply. The people at the dragstrip thught I was sandbagging, because at about 3/4 track, my brake lights would be illuminated. There were a lot of people who asked what I was doing.

Interesting. Ive always heard that the converter locking at WOT is bad. Id be interested to hear your results. I may need to do a little more tranny tuning. Mine is set to lock up at WOT at 256mph, and I think I have it so it wont lock up at all in 3rd. Now Im currious.
