Default Can A Car Posi Fit A Truck?

Would an aftermarket 8.5 inch Eaton LSD out of an Impala SS fit my truck? They are both 30 spline. Are they interchangeable?

I would think that they would as long as the ring gear size and the splines are the same then it should work. You will need the bearings for the 8.6" rearend though....you can get them at Napa.

I thought the cars and s-10's ran 7.5" ring gears?

v6 5 speed s-10's came with the 8.5

i know that for a fact, samdogmx on here swapped his posi from his s-10 to his fullsize

and i could have sworn f-bodys came with 8.5's also, i could be wrong here though

So what your saying is that I can pull a carrier out of a Camaro and put it in my truck???????? I am pretty sure the 1 inch difference in carrier size would make a it a little bit tricky bolting them up. I am just wondering if car and truck 8.5 inch 30 spline carriers are the same.

no you can not interchange the 7.5 and 8.5

but if you had an 8.5 from an s-10 and an 8.5 from your truck they would swap

i dunno what comes in f bodys specifically, if they are 8.5's and 30 spline i'd assume they would work

but quicksilverado says they are 7.5's
