Caltracs or Drag slicks? (4wd)
O.K I've been planing on buying some drag tires for quite some time. But I have had a few problems finding 30" tall drag tires. I did find M and H 30x14x16lt tires but I think they might be a bit big for the front of the truck. Then my uncle asked "why not caltracs?". I said "I don't know"... lol
So what does everyone think? 4wd with caltracs and stock tires or M and H drags. I know the drags will mostlikely hook better, but I just need a bit more traction. My best 60' is 1.67 and that is at about 6 psi at launch. I can hit 8-10 psi if the ride wasent so rough......
Thought?
I might just ****-can the hole idea, be WAY nice to my wife for a month and pray Parish8 don't sell his tires by then....

Do both. put some slicks on the back (you may have to go with 29 in) with the caltracs and put some good sticky street tires on the front. With the weight transfer the back is going to do most of the work anyway.

I'm tring to do this VERY cheap, so both isn't going to happen unless I can find everything cheap of course. Why 29" tall tires, Dock Rocker? what is wrong with the Mand H's?

well im guessing your trying to stay out of 4 th gear by getting the taller tire? i think i calculated it ot be like 125 or so crossing the traps in 3rd at like 6100 rpms, if do the 28.8 tall tires will work, imo i would get slicks you could get some good 60 ft's with them . i know im awd but i pulled a 1.60 60 ft with them last time out.

I would be worried about having full on tall slicks on the front tires, in case you have to steer and correct. I think they could roll and fold which would cause you to lose control. I would do drag radials on the front due to their more rigid construction, but not slicks.

vanillagorilla, no one makes 30" dot radials. I'd have to go to 28" and that puts me over my personal rpm limit.
