I've been thinking about this since Nov.
My launches are ok (1.82) but a smaller tire would help lower my 60' but my traction sucks now when I go back into 2wd. (squirrly big time)
I figure if I could find some really sticky 27-29" tires for the rear and some same diameter street tires for the front i can lower my 60" and yet still be able to switch into 2wd right after the launch and hook.

Might look a little funny but I'm sure my times would be better, putting my rpm at the top of third (instead of the bottom) at the traps.

Wish I had kept my stock wheels for this.

There alot more 29 inch tires and I bet you cna find them cheaper than a 30. Nothing wrong with the brand and one inch will not make much difference in gear or trap speed

the only compainy that sells 29" that I can find is Nitto. and if I just do the rears I don't want to launch in 4wd if the fronts are 30" tall...

cal-tracs in the back with some drag tires matching the front size and roll with it. Thats what I plan on doing.
