Default Bottom leaf spring

My bottom leaf spring (overload spring maybe?) is pretty twisted out of place. Is this common or normal? The bump stops on it barely touch because it is so far out of alignment. Is there an easy fix or is this how it is supposed to be?

are you saying they don't have the same arch as the other leaves? if so that is the purpose, when you have it "overloaded" the other springs will flatten the make contact with the overload one using the third for the added weight, basically making a stiffer spring, only under loads

I know what you are saying. after I got my radix I noticed the same thing. i think under load the whole rear end pulls to the drivers side and when it does it pulls those lower leafs out of place

GMracer, it's kinda like terravast said. I know that it isn't connected on the ends with the other leaves, only in the middle with the two U bolts.. However, it does not run parallel with the main leaves like I think it is supposed to. A friend suggested an extra U bolt a couple inches back from the others to help keep it aligned, but I wanted to see what everyone else thought and if anyone had done anything about it. There must be some twisting going on under there to cause this.

So did you already straighten it out and it moved back or what?

No I haven't tried anything yet. Maybe I'll whack it back into place with a small mallet and see how long it stays.

Once you get them aligned get you some spring clamps and clamp all the springs together at the very front of the over load spring this will also help with axle wrap.

when I installed my caltracs I noticed this problem but I banged everything straight and torqued everything down good and tight and have not noticed any movement since.

Will it make the truck any higher or lower (or rougher)?

Anyone have pics of this?
