Is it ok to run around in auto 4x4 with 520+ RWHP ?
My blown truck is just tractionless in 2 wheel drive, hell 60 mph it blows the tires off when stabbed to the floor.
But driving around town , needing to be ready to punch it and go, is it OK to put it in auto to be ready, Or is it necessary to put it in 4x4.
Just wandering if the transfer case can handle this, or your guys experiences.
Hoping Auto 4x4 is kinda like having AWD for us non AWD guys lol.

Since it uses clutches I would suggest against it unless you are really easy on the throttle. The clutches allow the rear to slip to a point before transferring power to the front. I think with it in regular 4hi the clutches don't slip as much. With that much power you don't wana be getting hard on it in Auto.
If I properly understand how it works.

I use my auto 4x4 all the time. Run the newest version of autotrac fluid and change it every 30k miles and you should be okay. I have around 145,000 miles on my stock untouched transfer case. I'm not the only boosted truck around here(Alaska) doing this.

You are just casually driving around, might want to play, so you put in Auto and hammer down? !
Cool, i was hoping there would be no issues with using auto. If your good i should be to as we have very simialr combos.
Thanks for the input.

Yes, I do this every day, multiple WOT's. Rolling, traffic lights, whatever. Sometimes I do a rolling burnout next to a guy, then lift, hit the auto 4x4, then destroy him.
Plus, my truck is alot heavier than yours.

I'm another guy who's launching in 4auto regularly. Hooks up really nice (slid straight sideways yesterday) and no mechanical problems so far. I've also been lucky with with my 60E and G80.
Try not to run in 4auto unless you really need to. I know some guys who stay in 4auto all winter long. They're asking for trouble with the chain stretching and hitting the case. This is a common repair according to what I've heard from a mechanic friend.

Yeah, lots of guys are afraid something will break, so their general consensus is that it's a bad idea. As somebody who does it everyday, I'm telling you it works just fine.
I bought my truck in 2002 when it had about 10,000 miles on it. I launched WOT in auto 4x4 back then, and I still do it now. The truck got the Maggie around the 100k mark, and now it's around 145k.
Don't be scared.
