Is the 14bolt the same width size, hub to hub, as the 10 bolt? Does GM Sell a setup without the differential unit?

thanks

Housing flex causes the pinion not to seat as deep into the ring gear causing all the pressure to be put on the edge of the teeth instead of the "meat" of the teeth. Adding trusses helps alot, I would some good axles too, but they arent the main contributor to what happened to his gears.

Deck, what did you have the bearing cap bolts tq'ed to?

My axle is out of a 93 van, I believe it is 68" wide, There are 3 or 4 different widths IIRC. The 94-98 Z71s had the 14 bolt in the rear that you need. You can get one out of a VHO or SSS but it will cost oyu its weight in gold. Then add on the cost of the Baer conversion which is about 1300 also I believe so you have a 3K rear end and dont even have a good locker or axles in it. At that point you could have gotten a badass 9" and all you would have to do is fabricate sprign perches.

GM sells the axle housing by itself for just under a grand if you get the discount otherwise its like 1300.

Man, to be honest its been so long I have no Idea what the specs where.

Im debating whether to fix this one up, and give it one more shot, or just to bite the bullet and get somthing else. I went to strange's website, and the billet caps require machining... whats that about? Maybe ill give this 10 bolt one more shot, but who knows.

For those with turbos, the lower geared rear gear ratios are stronger since there are fewer teeth on the ring and pinion. As a result they are thicker.
