Default bolting a 60e behind a 6.0

I just want to confirm. It's an 05 6.0, you just need to remove the flexplate and spacer then bolt on the ls1 flexplate right?

Its for a buddy. I did the easier route, i just wasn't 100% sure on this lol.

i bolted up my 60e to my 6.0 and all i did was the flexplate from my 5.3, i think. I dont remember using the spacer. The 6.0 was from a 2001

that's what I thought. I believe the 99 or 00 6.0's were the longer cranks. Anyone else with some info?

99-00 6.0 had a longer crank and can not be used with a standard 4L60E with out getting a custom made torque converter. A 6.0 from 2001 up will bolt right up by removing the 6.0 fly wheel and spacer with longer bolts and using the fly wheel from the 4.8/5.3 or a 5.7 fly wheel and bolts.

99-00 are indeed the longer crank. if its an 05 just take the flexplate from the 4.8 or 5.3 and leave the spacer out of it. it'll be easy to tell if you did it wrong, the 4l60e wont even kinda line up. the flexplate you need to use should have a dip in the middle where it bolts to the crank.

If your buddy plans on keeping the 60e setup, I would look into an SFI flexplate..I have seen a few higher rpm higher tq stock flexplates crack the welds where the ring gear welds onto...including mine and a few buddies..

The SFI plate from PATC is only $75...its thicker double sided welded and well worth the extra insurance
