Default big hp guys using a 4l6x please chime in

well im going to be hitting the dyno soon and plan to put some decent numbers down. today my transmission departed. it could be the converter or pump , we have a couple other possibilities but these are the prime suspects. i need to know who is pushing big hp with a 4l6x trans , what converter are you using? i know everyone is going to say precision vigilante but the trans shop im using arent big fans of them but they havent seen any of the 3 or 5 disks. im in good with them and like to do what they like since they made a stout *** 65e the first time that lasted for over a year and over 50 passes down the 1/4 with no problems and not to mention the street launchs i have done. anyway they kind of like yank( which is kind of good since i need to be able to tow a small payload of about 5k since im planning on getting a boat) but its not the main concern. they also told me about a company called edge which i have never heard of. any insite is appreciated.

would never consider a edge. and to be honest PI is all i would consider. with converters you get what you pay for

if you have 10k into motor and 3k into trans why skimp out with a 400 dollar converter? pay that extra money and go PI.

I dont have the power you do, but I really like my Yank. Its not extremely loose, and it drives good. And I can tow with it.

PI all the way. I never had a single TCC issue and pushed the 65E waaaay toooo far (650-700 hp to the ground).

The biggest thing with the 65E and the hp levels you are pushing is that it becomes completely unpredictable from a reliability stand point. None of mine every broke under big load -- last one broke pulling sedately away from a stop sign after running the truck for 5 minutes...

My advice is to put together a street tune with 100% TM and detuned tranny settings in for your daily drive and a race tune with whatever you are comfortable with.

Agree. The difference between my previous 2 Yank converters to my current PI 3 disk is very noticeable. Money well spent IMO.

with a PI you will leave off idle. PIs flash hard and high. i had worse 60s putting it against itself. leave off idle with a PI and expect the best 60s. also when crusing it will flash fast and hard when you floor it. i would break them lose constantly at a roll once it hit.
