Default Best replacement brakes

What are the best replacement brakes for a 04 silverado. I need to put new brakes on with rotors and would like something that lasts but stops good.

After changing to 20" wheels my braking went from marginal to terrible with the stock brakes. I switched to the oem size Powerslots in the back, and Powerslot Plus 14" in front, with Hawk LTS pads all around. The braking improvement was remarkable...with the new setup it brakes better than the oem braking with the factory 16" wheels. I've had them on for about 15,000 miles and no issues with warping, or any thing else. And very little brake dust with the LTS pads.

The only drawback is the 14" rotors require at least a 19" wheel, so if i get a front flat I'll have to replace a good tire in the rear with the spare, then put the good 20" from the rear on the front. But I figure how often do you get a flat, right?

+1 from previous post. i didn't have the money to do a big upgrade at the time, but when i put my 33s on my braking was terrible. just did the stock size powerslot fronts and hawk pads and it was noticeably better, still not too good though.

I am running 17" wheels so I will go stock size. Do the hawk pads last or do they wear out quick. Want something the will stop good but last also.

I did my brakes a few years ago and went with the Brembo Slotted rotors and Hawk Ceramic Pads. Check out the pics on the link below. The first time I slammed on the brakes I thought I was going to snap the ball joints, they were that good. I highly recommend the set up. 2 years later, and they still amaze me

SSBC makes a great stock size slotted rotor kits with pads for under $400. I would check them out.

Auto Zone Duralast rotors and ceramic pads. I got the idea from some of the f-body guys that do autocross; they are awesome.
